Our company is developing a new UV LED train suitable for pipeline repair. Conventional UV curing light sources primarily used mercury lamps and metal halide lights, which relied heavily on mercury. The "Minamata Convention on Mercury" was adopted at the diplomatic conference of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) held in October 2013. From 2021 onwards, the manufacturing, export, and import of certain mercury lamps will be prohibited. LED lighting became practical around the year 2000. Research into the practical application of UV LEDs has also progressed, but UV LED curing devices have only been available for less than ten years. UV LEDs are effective for short-term repairs. They have lower output compared to UV curing with mercury lamps. Naturally, they consume less power and can also be used with batteries. Fine control, such as output adjustment, is possible, making them highly anticipated in various fields.
